The Love Dare is a 40-day challenge for husbands and wives to understand and practice unconditional love. You can do it as a couple, or if your marriage is in trouble, do it as an individual, for your marriage, out of obedience to Christ. Each day has a challenging lesson on love, followed by a ‘dare’ for the day, and space to journal how it went. For more information visit Fireproof My Marriage

Day 1: Love is patient

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Today’s Dare:

The first part of this dare is fairly simple. Although love is communicated in a number of ways, our words often reflect the condition of our heart. For the next day, resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all. If the temptation arises, choose not to say anything. It’s better to hold your tongue than to say something you’ll regret.

I most likely won’t post our progress, since its personal…but I would ask for you all to pray for us as we embark on this journey, and let me know if I can pray for you as well. We have also decided to extend the ‘dare’ to our kids as well, so its more like a Family Love Dare!

Let the journey begin…

If you don’t have a blog, but would like to do an online journal, they provide one at The Love Dare

I would ask for you all to pray for us as we embark on this journey, and let me know if I can pray for you as well. Click here to start from Day 1!

  1. I think this is a great idea! Me and my husband absolutely loved Fire Proof and think everybody could benefit from watching it. We have planned on doing Love Dare but haven't followed through yet but this post has motivated me! I will pray for your Love Dare Journey!

  2. Another reason to not post the daily challenges: it goes through intensely personal stuff.I remember flipping through the book and being intimidated by some of the questions in it. I'll be praying it all goes well.

  4. I’m not married but I’m trying this on my boyfriend and I need a lot of prayers. I hope who ever did this with their husband/boyfriend came back together even stronger.
