Italian Beef (Roast)

Hi everyone! We made what my husband said was “the best roast he’s ever had” last night so after that comment I thought I’d better share this with you all as well! It’s so simple and really  was delicious if I do say so myself! Ingredients: 1 Beef Chuck Roast (size to your family’s needs, can also use chicken thighs) 1 packet Good Seasonings Italian dressing (Dry mix) 1 bottle cheap beer (I don’t typically use alcohol in my cooking, however this really was worth it and there was no alcohol taste left over, just super tender beef.) Directions: Place roast in crockpot on high, sprinkle dry dressing mix ontop of roast and cover with 1 beer. Cook in crockpot 6 hours on high. Serve with potatoes and salad or your favorite vegetable! See EASY!! Yum, Yum! Hope you love it! … [Read more...]

K4 Vowel Sounds & Beginning Blend Worksheets

Here is another addition to the K4 curriculum that I’ve been working on. They are Vowel Sound and Beginning Blends Worksheets. Fairly straight forward, your student says the name of the picture, then circles the vowel sound they hear in the middle of the word. Be patient with this, middle sounds are much more difficult to hear than beginning sounds! Also included are beginning blend worksheets. Again, say the name of the picture, then sound out both beginning blends and circle the correct one for that picture. These are just a little addition to help your K4 preschooler make the connection between all the letter’s they’ve been learning and starting to form CVC words. There are 2 Vowel identification worksheets and 6 beginning blends worksheets. Click here to see my other K4 Curriculum Activities! These activities are part of my K4 level expansion to my Letter of the Week Curriculum, click on the images below to see more activities. The K4 curriculum isn’t quite finished yet, so … [Read more...]

TEACH Magazine: True Treasures Review

I’m excited to say that I am joining up with TEACH Magazine and their Gabby Mom Bloggers to bring you some wonderful, Christian homeschooling product reviews! One of my first reviews is for a publication called “True Treasures: 10 years of  TEACH Magazine” True Treasures: $19.97 I have to say that when I first got this book it looked PACKED with articles and I was thinking to myself “yikes, I hope I can find some time to read this before the review is due!” Then typical to my usual antics I put it in a pile and walked away. You know, it’s always better to procrastinate ;o) I’m sorry to say that I waited WAY too long before cracking this sweet gem. I was heading to a day at the dentist office and figured that sometime between my own and the other 3 kids appointments I’d at least be able to skim through it. Well, I have to say that I’d never in my life wished a dentist appointment would have lasted longer than on this day! I started reading on page one and when you’re convicted … [Read more...]

Character Study: Honesty

Welcome to the 9th study in the Character series that is based on Honesty (vs. Lying/False Witness.) Click on the image or link below to download a pdf of this study. A Character study: Honesty Other books required for this study: The Bible (any version will do!) Each day you will learn a verse, read a story where this sin is illustrated, then discuss the consequences of this sin followed up by the blessings of obedience. I encourage discussion with your children on ways they can help one another to stay free from this sin. Putting these ideas into practice on a daily basis will help them to become habit. Our daily/weekly challenge: "Be honest, make sure whatever comes out of your mouth honors God" I have a sticker sheet and anyone caught making good choices, that’s right “caught making good choices” gets a sticker. I tend to only respond when someone is making bad decisions, and this helps me to focus on the good instead. Whoever has the most stickers at the end of the week … [Read more...]
