Hi everyone! I’m excited to share my new CVC Funny Words maker with everyone. As part of my K4 Expansion, we’re working more on beginning reading skills. These flip cards are great for getting new readers used to putting letter sounds together.

To play:

  1. Cut out the letter tiles and hole punch where indicated.
  2. Using 3 key rings, bind the letters together to make a flip chart.
  3. Have your student flip the letters to make funny words.

There are actual word ideas on the back cover of the booklet, but I also encourage you to let them try to blend together whatever letters they flip to. It’s more fun, and gives students great practice blending letter sounds together.

These activities are part of my K4 level expansion to my Letter of the Week Curriculum, click on the images below to see more activities!

  1. I know this is an old post…but I am just downloading. The letter “B” is still not there. Also what do we do with the letter “Q”? Is that just for sounding out? Thanks so much for offering so many great downloads….

    1. For the letter q, yes, the point isn’t to make real words, though you certainly can. It’s more to get used to blending the letters together. But if it’s confusing them then it might be a good idea to just put the “u” next to the “q” and then go through with the ending consonants flipping around.

For the letter B, i can’t figure it out! It’s there on the printable, i don’t know why it’s not printing. Some weird fluke, so sorry!
