Hi girls! Okay, so I have another great product to share with you today…sorry about all of these, but I’m on a roll apparently! If you really hate them, let me know and I’ll stop immediately Surprised smile! Today I’m talking nails. Nail polish and nail polish organization.

I don’t know about you, but I’m very rough on my nails. Having four children, homeschooling, taking care of a home, and blogging all take a serious toll on my nails. Typically they break easily, and nail polish? Oh forget it. I just didn’t even bother since I knew it would get chipped off that very night as I did dishes.

But then…

I found Revlon Colorstay Top Coat and Revlon Colorstay Basecoat.  Oh my heavens…yeah! No kidding ladies, this is my new holy grail for no-chip nails.

I’m not sure what’s in these…probably something terrible…but whatever it is, my polish actually…gasp…stays on! No chips, no kidding.

Really my polish lasts so long with this, I’m usually bored of it and end up taking it off before I see any chipping!

The other thing that I’ve noticed is that my nails aren’t breaking either. It doesn’t say anything about strengthening your nails on the packaging, but I think it does. I don’t let my nails get long anyway, too impractical for my life style, but at least they’re all about the same length now and long enough to look nice when polished.

Now, let’s talk polish. My numero uno polish brand is O.P.I. It is good quality, they have a TON of colors to pick from, and they glide on smoothly which I like.

I recently found this cute acrylic cosmetic case hiding underneath my sink. It’s been there for years and had VERY old makeup in it that was from a gift of some kind. Probably from back when I was a teenager or something. But I kept it, and now I’m finally using it!

(I’m so sorry, I can’t find this exact one online, but I’ve seen similar type things at Target, Wal-mart, The Container Store and Ulta. I did find this Small Craft Organizer from The Container Store, not as cute, but still functional!)

So, little to my knowledge this thing makes a great nail polish caddy! When opened fully, it has two drawers that fold out to give some added space for all of your supplies.

And with 4 girls in the house…lets just say we paint a lot of nails. SO the top drawer holds all of our supply type things, files, clippers, toe separator thingies, and a buffing bar.

The next one holds my top/base coats, and some of the crazier colors…namely blue…and really ones that were flat enough to fit in the tray.

The bottom large container holds all of our polishes. You’ll notice that most of them are O.P.I. I’d just rather pay for them than purchase the cheap ones that actually peel off your nails in about 5 minutes.

So here it is, our nail polish organization caddy all closed up. It has a nice handle on it too that allows us to grab all of our colors at once and have a painting party. Or a painting assembly line which is more what it’s like at our house.

Today’s post is brought to you by the color Anti-bleak from O.P.I. One of my new favorites, kind of a cranberry color.

Just kidding about the “brought to you” part above. I’m not affiliated with any of the companies above, just wanted to share some great stuff with you, my awesome readers!

  1. Oh, fun! I will have to see if my mom has my old Caboodles from high school days. They opened in a similar way.
Hey, what color was the lavendar one you had on in your workbox video? I really like that shade & will have to look for it! Thanks!

  2. Erica,

You read my mind! While I loved your videos, I must admit that I was checking out your nails. As for the product posts. I say one can take what they need and leave the rest. If someone doesn’t need the info they can simply skip the post. Please keep the good info coming all the way around. As women, we need to be well balanced.

    Have a blessed day!

  3. In love with the blog!! Reference it daily. Love the product shout outs!! So much so that I went and purchased a fun clear box and some bright colors 🙂 However, I am so, so bummed as I have just read the first ingredient in the nail polish and its FORMALDEHYDE. What?!? I came so close to having no chip nails. Ugh!!!…

  5. I was looking at this with my 3-year-old daughter and when she saw the toe separators for your feet she said, “What are those happy things for?” 🙂 This is great 🙂 My husband LOVES it when I paint my nails, but like you it feels like what is the point when it starts chipping within hours…or even minutes! Thanks for this great product idea!

  6. Have you tried the newer line from Sally Hanson? The salon manicure ones that include the top coat and base coat in with the color? They actually last a decent amount of time, and given that I’m usually doing my nails at 10-11pm, cutting down on a step helps. Just wanted to throw that out there. Thanks for telling us about the Revlon products….I’m trying those out as well. Thanks for the great posts! Love your blog!

  7. Thank you for this. My toes are always painted because I can keep it on there, but my hands are usually bare because it never stays on. I just bought the ColorStay base and top coat this morning to try it for myself! You may want to look into Zoya nailpolish. It’s an online company that have some really great colors. They were suggested to me a couple of years back and that’s pretty much the only kind of polish I have now. The quality’s really good and they run some really good deals if you follow them on facebook and twitter and such (like in January they had 3 free polishes if you paid the $10 shipping).

  8. Love these posts, Erica!
My Mom and I just had a “girls night” with my daughters, and tried this new polish. We ALWAYS get chips within a few hours of doing our nails, and we’re going on day 3 with no chips. Great tip!
I love homeschooling, but it is great to have these posts as well.
    Thank you!

  9. Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirl… Thanks so much! I have my nails painted all of the time, but it irritates me that it chips after a couple of days. After you posted this, I went and bought some, and I’m now on day seven of this polish with NO chips! Thanks again!

  10. Erica! These posts are great! I had been wondering about LUSH for a while, but was too intimidated to
    1. Take my three-ring-circus in the store 2. Go into the store due to the fragrances wafting out of there. 3.i wasn’t sure what they had to offer. Now I do. Thanks for that.
Also, I am so thankful to know there is polish/topcoat etc that helps polish not chip! I have not painted my finger nails in years, just toes, because I hated the fact that my polish would chip with the first dish washed!
My sister originally wanted to be a makeup artist too, and she really loves M.A.C. Now I live in the big city, so I can actually check it out.
Keep up the great work, I appreciate your work! It is a blessing to my family. And me.
    😉
