What is Maestro Classics?
For those of you who haven’t visited Maestro Classics before, they produce “Stories in Music” which are a classical music CD series for children ages 5 to 12, but can be enjoyed by everyone, yes…even adults! Each CD comes with a booklet full of lesson activity ideas and games to play while listening. The CDs also include information on composers and historical facts when appropriate to the musical selections. The stories are engaging keep kids attention while at the same time introducing them to classical symphony and orchestra.
The Carnival of the Animals CD retails for $16.98, and is also available on MP3 for just $9.98.
The Carnival of the Animals CD lions roar, elephants dance, roosters crow, kangaroos leap, fish swim, wild donkeys race, xylophones clatter, clarinets cuckoo, cellos play the famous swan song, and the tortoise does the world’s slowest can can in Saint-Saens’ musical picture gallery of the animal kingdom! In the Maestro Classics recording features the droll verse that Ogden Nash wrote for each of the work’s fourteen movements and is recited by Maestro Classics’ beloved narrator, Yadu.
It also comes with a 24 page CD booklet that includes complete Odgen Nash verses with pictures by well0known children’s book illusrator, Anne Wilsdorf.

I was in a ballet when I was younger, called Carnival of the Animals, based on this music! I love Au-Clair-de-la-lune!

“About the Music” was pretty cool to me. We’d really love this music. We know one of the songs from one of the Fantasia DVDs we have, and my girls really enjoy the “Classical Kids Collection” which I think has some similarities to this.
