How To Make a Lapbook Video Tutorial

Hi everyone! I get a lot of questions on how to create lapbooks, and how we use them in our homeschool. I thought it would be easier to show you all in a “How To Make a Lapbook” video tutorial for you! First I wanted to talk a little bit about what a lapbook is and how to use it in your homeschool or classroom. So what is a lapbook? Lapbooking is simply a hands-on method of teaching students about any topic! They can include drawings, writings, timelines, pictures, graphs, and any other information that fits your topic. They can be as simple or complex as you like based on the age of your students. Mr. Popper’s Penguins Unit Study Progress

Hi! Well, with the onset of one of our snowiest months of the year, we’re celebrating by working on our Mr. Popper’s Penguins Unit Study! This book isn’t moving as quickly as the last one, but it’s fun to do penguin stuff in wintertime!   In this unit we are learn all about penguins including different types, the penguin food chain, and vocabulary. Here is Turbo and Strawberry Shortcake working on his story timeline. I love Mr. Popper with his ladder, this is quickly becoming one of my favorite activities, and it’s a great way to help them remember what the main plot of the story is! They will also do a character analysis of main characters in the story, alphabetize Mr. Popper’s penguins, learn about different occupations, and write their own penguin poem. Jesse Bear Activities and Lapbook

Jesse Bear, What Will You Wear? by Nancy White Carlstrom We love Jesse Bear at our house and I wanted to share some of the activities we’ve done to go along with this sweet little book! Craft: We made a cute little dress up bear awhile back and I thought it would be perfect for this activity so we got him back out. It’s simply a bear printed out on brown cardstock then laminated. I put Velcro dots on his body then cutout clothes from colorful felt. It’s easy to dress him as you just stick them on! House For Hermit Crab Lapbook

My son wanted to do a lapbook on crabs, and I found this one on Homeschool Share. We read A House for Hermit Crab and then did a fun activity on the back of the lapbook called “Hermit Crab’s Year” It is a story sequencing game, so as I read my son put up the activities of Hermit Crab for each month. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Lapbook

Clown Fish Lapbook

This was our first preschool lapbook, we did a Clownfish Lapbook. Since it was for prek, I kept it simple, 1 file folder and includes: New Worlds: Sea homes Where do they live? Easter Activities & Lapbook

I made some fun Easter activities for our family and thought I’d share early so you have plenty of time to make them! These items could easily be made into an Easter Lapbook so I also included a Lapbook Cover Page and Game Piece Pockets if you want them. Enjoy!Lapbook Cover Page and Lapbook Pockets Easter Number Matching: Cut out each egg, then cut in half along the dotted line. Match the number on top with the correct amount of dots on the bottom to complete the puzzles! (Numbers 1-10 included in download) Roll an Easter Egg: Roll the dice and put together the egg puzzle depending on the number you roll! Counting Eggs: These are fun to put in numerical order! I also these with either mini-clothes pins, colored paper clips, or put a hole in them and have her attach chain links to them. Whatever you use, just have them put on the correct amount for the number on the card. This would be cute to use with little Jelly Beans as counters!
