Hi everyone, I’m thrilled to announce a super fun Combo Pack giveaway today! Carisa (1+1+1=1) and I decided to get together and offer a giveaway of our K4 Expansion Pack and You Can Read as a set! YAY!

YCRK4

As you know, I beefed up my Letter of the Week curriculum for my 4 year old to give her a bit more of a challenge with the K4 Expansion Pack! Well, Carisa’s You Can Read program is a perfect compliment for beginning reading and learning sight words!

My K4 Expansion Pack starts with beginning reading, vowel recognition and introduces a few sight words with my beginning readers. Then Carisa’s You Can Read really drills those site words through lots of interactive games!

One of my favorite activities from the You Can Read program are the Word Hunts and Word Boxes. The word hunt has each word in different fonts so it helps them get used to ‘seeing’ the word in various forms.

I love how the different sized boxes really help my daughter figure out how each letter should look. I’ve also heard about outlining words like this before to help with spelling. They can picture the frame around the word when trying to recall how to spell each word!

Here are some of the activities in the K4 Expansion Pack:

They include beginning reading, beginning sounds, middle vowel sounds and blends along with some beginning readers. And of course it also includes more beginning math, counting, and number order type activities as well.

The You Can Read program really helps solidify the recognition of the sight words we’re starting to work on! I love the word hunt game, it is a great way to build visual recognition of these words. They come in many different fonts so she really had to look for each one.

We had fun with the shapes dot-to-dot activity, she did a great job with it then was excited to say all the shapes once she finished too.

  1. I'm already subscribed. This is great! My oldest (nearly 4) has just started working on phonics and the basic sight words. She's doing great and I've been looking for things for her to do over the summer to continue her learning.Jennhisgal2[at]gmail[dot]com
