Welcome to Week 1 of our Vintage Christmas 2 quilt-a-long!

I am going to break it up into five weeks, so we can get be ready for the holiday season. But of course, you can go at your own pace! Make sure to share your progress pictures using #vintagechristmas2qal so we can all see your work!

I’ll be posting my progress regularly on Instagram and Facebook so make sure to follow along with me there. And I’ll share little tips as we go in my IG and FB stories, so make sure to check each day for updates!

Week 2 Schedule:

Monday: Cut out fabric for truck and gift blocks. I like to get all of my fabric cut out on one day, then whenever I have time throughout the week I can go in and sew a little! You’d be surprised how much you can get done a little at a time!

Tuesday-Friday: Sew the Truck and Gift blocks together. This week we’ll be sewing all five truck blocks. They go really fast if you chain-piece them so I would definitely recommend it! I like to sew the pieces first, then do all of my pressing and trimming at the same time. I usually sew the truck units together first so they are all done. Then I go back and sew all of the little gifts together. Once those are done, it’s super easy to put them all together! Since I tend to sew scrappy, it’s easy to choose which gifts go better with which truck too!

Tip: Check out my pressing tips here! When working with smaller pieces, make sure to trim your blocks as you go! I also like to use Mary Ellen’s Best Press to help keep my blocks nice and accurate. Lavender scent is my fave!

Pattern Level: Beginner-Intermediate

This entire quilt is traditionally pieced! It does have several pieces, so I think it’s a beginner-intermediate level pattern. However, the pattern does include step-by-step graphic illustrations and written instructions, and you’re welcome to email me if you have any questions at all!

So I say if you like it, go for it!
