Since we’re working on the human body this year, I chose the Human Body Science Cards. What a fun way of reviewing and practicing all of the parts and functions of the Human Body!

For those of you who haven’t heard of Hot Dots before, they are educational cards with dots on them. When pressed on the dots, the special pen registers whether or not the answer is correct or not.

The pen then lights up green and dings for a correct answer, or red and buzzes for an incorrect answer.

We also chose some Vocabulary Cards, these particular ones help practice Synonyms.  Here is a close up of what some of the cards look like. This set comes with 50 double-sided, illustrated cards that cover synonyms for grades 2+. They have 6 interactive vocabulary card sets which include antonyms, multiple-meaning words, prefixes and suffixes, context clues, and homophones.

  1. As a former special education school teacher and beginner home schooling mom, I am thrilled to learn about hot dots!!! This is a product that could be used successfully when working with multiple intelligences, easily being changed for individual children’s needs. I am the type of person that gets excited butterfly’s in my stomach at the thought of helping a child achieve that “ah ha” moment, and I have it! Thanks for sharing such an incredible product so more children will know how smart they are!!!!

  2. Wow! What a wonderful teaching tool. My so would love these because he could learn independently without me hovering over his shoulder. Having our pick of any, we would choose Hot Dots® Reading Comprehension Cards – Getting the Main Idea and eventually move on to the next to in the series.

  3. What a great idea! And standards based too- can’t beat that. We would love the Hot Dots® Standards-Based Language Arts 5. Combining independent learning with humor and standards-based practice… very clever!
