I’m so excited to share a fun and functional new pattern with you – My Quilty Potholders! These little projects are quick, beginner-friendly, and perfect for bringing a handmade touch to your kitchen (or someone else’s!).

This pattern includes two different styles so you can mix and match depending on your mood:
- A solid fabric version that’s perfect for showing off a favorite print or working through your scrap stash.
- A classic Ohio Star version that adds a bit of quilty charm to your kitchen.
Whether you’re baking cookies, pulling a casserole out of the oven, or just need something to protect your counters, these potholders are multi-purpose heroes. Use them as oven mitts, trivets, or hot pads—they’re just the right size for all the hot stuff!
I love how fast these come together too. You can easily sew up a few in an afternoon, making them a great project for gifting (think housewarming, holidays, hostess gifts, or teacher appreciation). They’re also a fantastic way to use up leftover batting and small cuts of fabric.
Here’s what you’ll love about this pattern:
- Includes instructions for both styles (Solid and Ohio Star)
- Beginner-friendly and scrap-friendly
- Fast to sew and great for gifting
- Useful as potholders, trivets, or mini oven mitts
- A fun way to practice your quilting skills on a small project

Happy quilting!
Hi Erica, thank you for your tutorial! I had one thought about the binding on the smaller quilted piece for the potholder… What about sewing the binding on both pieces, turning to right side and then quilting? I haven’t tried it yet but will see how that goes… Thanks again!
