Hey guys, I’ve been wanting to do some Tip Tuesday type videos for you for awhile now, and I’m finally getting around to it! I think it’s nice to do these in video format because I can just sit down and talk to you all which makes it a little more personal.

I don’t know about you all, but our January has been ho-hum in the back to school sense, and after my instagram post showing our first day back after the break, I’m guessing some of you have been experiencing the same thing! Well, don’t worry fellow homeschoolers, you are NOT alone! We’ve been homeschooling for about 9 years now, and honestly the new year is always kind of a let down after the fun holiday break. Everyone is tired, and no one really wants to do school, including me!

But considering school isn’t optional in our state, I wanted to share some of my tips for beating the January Blahs. Check out my Beating the January Homeschool Blahs video below for some helpful tips and tricks to get your students motivated to get back into learning!

P.S.  I’m sorry this post is a little bit late, but hopefully it still helps some of you get back into the swing of things after the new year. You can always take a little bit of time this weekend to give your homeschool a facelift and get your kids motivated for back to school!

Happy Homeschooling,

  1. Great tips! I also like to do a clean up & clean out before we start back to school. I had to laugh about the scissor hunt! I think there is a little monster that lives here at our house that steals all the scissors & pencils! We never can find a pair of scissors! Looking forward to tip Tuesdays! Thanks for sharing your ideas.

  2. I love these tips. We live in SoCal, so we don’t have snow days… but we can do jammie days on rain days around here. 🙂
Another thing we like to do is get a couple new essential oils for our school room diffuser. New choices to help boost our focus/concentration, immune systems, and/or mood – depending on the day!

  3. Thank you for the video and tips! You gave me a couple new ideas. January and February are usually brutal for us. Everyone gets so tired of being stuck inside and it takes a toll on us concerning motivation. For that reason, I usually implement almost all of the same things you mentioned and a few of our own family motivators. However, for some reason, this January has been great so far. I think it’s because we are having a pretty mild winter which lends itself to much more playing outside. Being outside is obviously key for my kids’ mental health over everything else. I look forward to more videos.

PS-Sometimes, I think we are one in the same..at least when it comes to ideas about homeschooling.

Truly, though… the fresh supplies and cleaning is brilliant
and we are guilty of too many jammie days.
Or i should say in my case, robe days.
