I have the privilege of reviewing the totally awesome Bamboo Craft Pen Tablet today courtesy of the super cool gals at Pen Scrappers! I was so excited about this as I’m already a huge fan of Wacom Tablets and all of the awesome digital scrapbookers at Pen Scrappers! I use my Bamboo Craft tablet when doing any kind of graphic design work including creating printables for you all! One thing I haven’t done much is let my kids use my tablet. They’re constantly begging to use my “special pen”, so when I got this one I thought I’d give them a chance. I really wanted to see how I could incorporate the Bamboo Craft into our homeschooling. So I opened up some of my trusty A-Z Handwriting and 1-20 Handwriting worksheets and let them have at it! I was really excited to see that they loved to practice handwriting using the Bamboo Craft. My son said he liked this WAY better than his regular handwriting! I explained we’d probably switch it up so he could do this every now and then … [Read more...]
Easter Egg Dyed Yarn Tutorial
I recently found a wonderful tutorial for using Easter egg dye to create hand dyed yarn and just had to try it! Now, I’m not exactly a rule follower, and the tutorial mentioned prior was too much work for me, so I surfed around and found this tutorial which was much less work. I adjusted it a tad and it still worked, so I’m calling it a success! This is a great project for kids, and it was easy enough that they did most of it on their own, with just a little instruction from me such as measuring and help with the microwave. Supplies: Easter Egg Dye Tablets (I grabbed some after Easter for half off!) Distilled White Vinegar Plastic Wrap Glass Dish (or other microwaveable container, I used a 9x13 pyrex) 6 small dishes for dye tablets Microwave White/Cream Yarn (IMPORTANT: This must be yarn from an animal such as wool, alpaca or silk. If you try to use acrylic or poly-fiber yarns, the dye will not take! Please trust me on this one…) Step 1: Wind yarn into large oval … [Read more...]
Downloading from 4-Shared
Hi everyone, I wanted to take a quick moment to talk about downloading my Printable Materials. I’ve had several questions and some issues from you all saying that you can’t get the files downloaded and that’s no good! First, I want to mention that you do NOT have to sign up for a paid account with 4share in order to receive my printables! Of course they’ll advertise for that and try to get you to sign up, but don’t be fooled in to that! Download instructions: When you click on one of my download links it will bring you to the www.4shared.com site. Then you click the BIG BLUE button that says “Download Now”. You have to wait for the little countdown clock to get to zero and where the clock is it will turn into another link that says “Download file now”. Once the countdown clock is finished, the area that says “Your download link will appear after wait” will turn into a link that says “Download File Now”. Click on that link. You should get a gray … [Read more...]
How to Install and Use Photoshop Brushes
I gave away my first brush set yesterday, and thought some of you might need a quick tutorial on using Photoshop Brushes. They’re super easy and fun to use and can add that extra bit of digi-goodness to your designs! So fire up your Photoshop and follow along! STEP 1: Download my brush set! Unzip the set, then extract the files into a folder on your hard drive. If you don’t have an unzipping software already, here are a few free ones: Winzip 7-zip CamUnzip STEP 2: Once you download and unzip my file, simply copy and paste the .abr file to your brushes folder and the next time you start Photoshop, the brushes will be available from your brush set menu. The brushes are typically stored in the presets folder wherever you installed your Photoshop program. For example mine are here: C:Program FilesAdobePhotoshop Elements 7.0PresetsBrushes C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS3PresetsBrushes STEP 3: Use your brush! Create a new Photoshop document, make it … [Read more...]
