Oh my goodness! If you haven’t tried All About Spelling yet you are soooo missing out! We started using this product last year and absolutely love love love it!

I personally think they should have named it All About Phonics because it really is a phonics, spelling and reading program in my opinion. I wrote a review of it awhile back you can read my All About Spelling Review here.

I was previously using a different spelling program and my daughter was getting 100% on all her tests. I thought she was doing great until I realized that she was actually just memorizing her list for the week, but then later when asked to recall a word she should have learned it was long gone.

With All About Spelling, kids learn why words are spelled as they are. They drill the phonics rules until they are mastered and that is what has made the difference for us. I noticed a marked improvement in both the reading and writing skills of my children after starting this program. Now when they go to spell or sound out a word, I’ll remind them of the rules they’ve learned and they are able to figure it out on their own.

The lesson plans are well laid out and actually scripted for you if you like that. They also include hands on activities to make it a little more fun. I have a few Spelling Practice Ideas on my blog as well if you’re looking for more ideas to make spelling more hands-on and fun.

  1. I would love to win this! I’ve got a daughter who would benefit greatly from it right now, and two others who could use it shortly. If this level is a success, we’d definitely invest in the next levels!

  2. I’d love to win this awesome spelling system! My daughter is pre-K, but I’ve been searching for a great phonics and spelling program to use with her when she’s ready.

  3. My 5 year old and I were working on reading during the last school year. She is really trying to grasp the concept of reading. But all of the rules and exceptions seem to be confusing. She was just memorizing the pages on beginner books by the pictures. After taking the Summer off I feel like were back to square one. The program looks and sounds great, I think she would really benefit by it and pick up reading quickly. She really enjoys math, so sometimes I like to tell her spelling is the addition of letters that equal words. She will soon be six and were starting 1st grade, I would love to win these products, it would help her so much! I was even thinking of pulling in my 8 year old third grader for some review. She is a great reader and has been reading since 5. I taught her phonics and she just took off with reading without knowing some of the rules. So, I would like to teach her the why to spelling words the way they are spelled, so that as she reads her chapter books it makes sense why the words are the way they are. The English language is a tricky one to teach and learn with so many exceptions and rules. Looks like they’ve made things easier to understand. My 21 month old is next in line for school so I think it would be great for her too in a year or two.
