Oh my goodness! If you havenโ€™t tried All About Spelling yet you are soooo missing out! We started using this product last year and absolutely love love love it!

I personally think they should have named it All About Phonics because it really is a phonics, spelling and reading program in my opinion. I wrote a review of it awhile back you can read my All About Spelling Review here.

I was previously using a different spelling program and my daughter was getting 100% on all her tests. I thought she was doing great until I realized that she was actually just memorizing her list for the week, but then later when asked to recall a word she should have learned it was long gone.

With All About Spelling, kids learn why words are spelled as they are. They drill the phonics rules until they are mastered and that is what has made the difference for us. I noticed a marked improvement in both the reading and writing skills of my children after starting this program. Now when they go to spell or sound out a word, Iโ€™ll remind them of the rules theyโ€™ve learned and they are able to figure it out on their own.

The lesson plans are well laid out and actually scripted for you if you like that. They also include hands on activities to make it a little more fun. I have a few Spelling Practice Ideas on my blog as well if youโ€™re looking for more ideas to make spelling more hands-on and fun.

If you havenโ€™t yet, make sure to visit All About Spelling: Donโ€™t forget to let them know Erica @ Confessions sent you over!

  1. I came to your blog through Olives and pickles while searching for activities related to phonics. When I saw the title of the article I thought this method was not what I need since I teach pre-k and we’re just about to start with phonics, but then I kept reading and it seems it’s exactly what I was looking for!.

  2. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win this AAS pack because I have one daughter who really struggles with spelling and phonics. She’s 8 yrs old and we have tried everything, including tutoring (to make sure I wasn’t doing something wrong, nothing quite like you’re child struggling with something to make you doubt yourself). AAS looks like a wonderful program, and I’ve heard many wonderful things about it, and I think it just might work to help her, plus her sister can use it when it’s their turn. ๐Ÿ™‚
    Thanks!

  3. I would love to use All About Spelling with my son who is in K. right now, this would be so helpful for his leaning about spelling and reading! We started homeschooling him this year.
    Thanks ! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. This is our first year homeschooling, starting with my preschooler. I can already see which learning methods work best for her and what motivates her to learn – hands on using sight and touch. I don’t know many homeschoolers so your blog is an inspiration of ideas and products that are proving very helpful. It seems this would also be an answer to my questions on how I will teach spelling!
