We’ve had so much rain lately that I had the bright idea of bringing out the sidewalk chalk! It’ll just get washed away tomorrow anyway!

It hasn’t rained since.

I’m not sure why, but kids absolutely LOVE this stuff! The Teeny Tot in particular was intrigued. Sadly she’d chosen to wear white pants.

Notice the now green pants.

Finally we talked her into drawing her own pictures.

But she kept going back to that darn grass.

Here are some more of our sidewalk chalk creations…a sun with a prairie dog standing on it. Ouch.

A rocket ship…looks strangely similar to those red, white and blue popsicles you get from Dairy Queen.

Jesus on the cross…

The mountains with…um, is that 3 suns I see? Flowers in the grass courtesy the Teeny Tot.

Guess I’ll have to get out the hose…still no rain!

And don’t forget to finish off the day with some homemade popsicles! I found this little tray at Target in the $1 section! Yum!

  1. My girls just had some homemade sidewalk paint and I think their creations will be out there for a long time with no rain in sight. I found the recipe on pinterest, just cornstarch, water, and food coloring.

I actually think we need to get some new sidewalk chalk ourselves because I brought most of ours to Vacation Bible Camp where it was happily used by about 20 preschoolers.

  2. We’ve discovered the joys of homemade sidewalk chalk over here, so this summer my girlies are outside drawing with it more than they have since they were toddlers, probably. Our favorite thing is to head to the basketball court at the local park when it’s otherwise empty–GIGANTIC blank canvas!

  3. Sidewalk chalk and play dough are about the best thing since sliced bread to kids! 🙂 Looks like fun was had by all. That’s how I started handwriting with my kids, sidewalk chalk, fun and school, win win! 🙂
