Spielgaben Play Based Learning!

Good morning readers! Today I have a special product to share along with a discount to pass along! I’m sure most of you have heard of Spielgaben by now, but it is new to our homeschool. And I have to say that we are loving this product!

For those of you who don’t know, Spielgaben is a company that produces environmentally sustainable and non-toxic child friendly materials. The Spielgaben set comes with all of the colorful materials you see below, including the 3 wooden trays and a chessboard that store all of the materials together. The set also comes with learning resources that include learning activities, user guides, over 30 sets of interactive worksheets, 65 inspiration cards, and more!

The materials are good quality, durable, colorful, and everything has a place in the storage unit which makes clean up and organizing it all a synch!

“There are 8 to 12 years worth of learning activities and lessons including full color digital format of 4 user guides, over 30 sets interactive worksheets, 65 inspiration cards and many many more…In short, your child is presented with limitless opportunities for play and learning for many years to come.”  ~ Spielgaben

The set is recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 12.

What are some of the benefits of using Spielgaben?

  • Teaches your child to think deeply about mathematics at an early age Spielgaben gives children a deep, intuitive understanding of the principles of geometry and arithmetic. They will actually understand math instead of just memorizing it.
  • Improves your child’s creativity and thinking skills Playing with Spielgaben helps children think creatively, come up with new ways of expressing their ideas, and thinking for themselves.
  • Enhances natural gifts of your child Spielgaben helps take children’s areas of interest “to the next level.” For example, if a child loves to draw, the Spielgaben encourages him or her to see shapes in nature and apply them to drawing.

Right away she wanted to play with it, so I printed off my Letter R color by number sheet and had her use the small disks to create her rainbow. She was very careful taking time to do this right which was quite impressive with her short attention span.

As soon as this arrived, the Teeny Tot was all over it! I explained right away that this was her new school kit and she was in charge of making sure things were put back in the proper place and well taken care of. I have to say she’s been VERY diligent in her task to keep this all organized!

The Teeny Tot has really been loving her “play time” with this set. Her favorite are the inspiration cards. You do have to print all of the worksheets, teacher’s manuals, and cards yourself, but I just printed and had them spiral bound with a clear cover added on so it was easier to keep them organized and in good condition. You can see the spiral in the photo below…

Here is one of her castles from the inspiration cards…and yes, she was able to build this all by herself. I helped her a bit with the roofline, but I just showed her how it should go, then she completed it on her own.

And her is another one, she absolutely loves doing these as well as creating her own.

The next challenge were to work with some of the sticks and re-create the images on the card.

She has been doing a great job using this kit, and she’s been excited to have something new and fun to add into her school day!

Of course the second the Teeny Tot walked away, her older sister took over coming up with her own creation using all of the various pieces. I believe she said this was a house with a yard outside. You can see the kitchen to the top side and then a bedroom on the bottom of the photo. The living room is in the center area with the semi-circle pieces.

I think my favorite thing is that my children don’t really think of this activity as “school”, they think they’re getting to play, but it really is a wonderful educational tool. Not only do children learn important math and logical thinking concepts, but the set also inspires creativity as they experiment with the materials.

We look forward to more fun as we incorporate the lessons into our homeschooling!

Thanks so much for this offer, have just filled in a form. Roz

  2. I LOVE this set, as I have seen many, many reviews! My fourth grader would do just exactly what Strawberry Shortcake did – take over and make something completely out of the box, not in any plans at all, and loving it :)

  3. Maxine GIanelloni says:

I keep clicking on the link for the form, and it is getting an error :(

  4. The worksheets, manuals, and inspiration cards– are they on a disc or is there a link for printing them? (My laptop does not take discs; I need to get it fixed.)

  5. Hello Erica,

Great and wonderful set! I requested and I received the coupon code and when applied to the cart it shows the price to be $327, not $320. This is still a significant savings from their own sale price.

    • Hi Gina,
I’m sorry, it sounds like there was an issue with the USD recently, here is their comment:

“The price is higher to $327 ($7 higher) because USD against AUD has weakened heavily last few days. The currency has weakened about 3.5% hence shopping cart automatically adjusted the currency exchange. I am sorry that we cannot fix the price because it is automatic by shopping cart.”

  6. This looks amazing! If you had to buy it, would you have found it worth the price?

    • Hi Sara,
Yes, if you use it as intended with the full curriculum then it will last for years and is great for independent play as well.

  7. Hi Erica,
Your website is such an encouragement for me in our homeschool journey. Thank you for sharing your life! I have sent the form twice to the kind people at spielgaben, but have not heard from them. April is coming to a close, and I would like to order this, as it would enhance school for my younger ones. Any ideas on how to move forward?
    Thanks,
    Lori

    • Order on their website as normal… ON the coupon code box put in
      confessions2014

      proceed to checkout!

I hope this helps you get your order placed!

    • Hi Lori,
I’ve forwarded your information to them, so you should be hearing from them!

  8. This is an awesome deal!! I’m just wondering; can Canadians get in on this as well?

  9. Erica Woods says:

I want to get this set using the discount but it is not working. I have emailed them twice and heard nothing. I even entered the confessions2014 and that did not work. Please help.

  10. I also have requested information about the discount and have not received a response. I tried using the confessions2014 code and it says the coupon does not exist. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  11. We did get the discount and received our complete package! My kids are so excited to play, but I would like to use the learning resources to guide them at first. I never received a digital guide. Was this something that they sent you or is it on their website. I cannot find it on their website or in any email that I received from them. I’ve emailed them and hope to hear back from them soon! With the price of this set, I really feel that the cards and guide should be included (already printed)!

    • Hi Misty,
They should be sending you the digital lessons shortly, if you don’t receive them, I would send them an email.

  12. So, after a little over a month of having this product, are you still loving it? We have so many similar items individually that it hurts the pocketbook to get a “repeat” if you will. But, having it all in one place with guided work is very appealing to me. Would you recommend this to a beginning HSer with a pre-schooler/kinder kid?

    • Hi Paige,
Yes, we still like it. They have a ton of lessons to go with it so we aren’t even close to bored yet :o)

  13. Hey Erica! I just ordered and received this set, but cannot find the link to download the lessons? Where did you find that link? Thanks, Natalie

    • Hi Natalie,
They emailed them to me, so you’ll probably have to contact them to see how to get them. Sorry I can’t help more.

  14. Erica, did you print everything on your home computer and then take it to fed ex office (or similar location) and have them bind it? I want to have everything printed, just not sure the best way to accomplish this
