Oh my goodness! If you haven’t tried All About Spelling yet you are soooo missing out! We started using this product last year and absolutely love love love it!

I personally think they should have named it All About Phonics because it really is a phonics, spelling and reading program in my opinion. I wrote a review of it awhile back you can read my All About Spelling Review here.

I was previously using a different spelling program and my daughter was getting 100% on all her tests. I thought she was doing great until I realized that she was actually just memorizing her list for the week, but then later when asked to recall a word she should have learned it was long gone.

With All About Spelling, kids learn why words are spelled as they are. They drill the phonics rules until they are mastered and that is what has made the difference for us. I noticed a marked improvement in both the reading and writing skills of my children after starting this program. Now when they go to spell or sound out a word, I’ll remind them of the rules they’ve learned and they are able to figure it out on their own.

The lesson plans are well laid out and actually scripted for you if you like that. They also include hands on activities to make it a little more fun. I have a few Spelling Practice Ideas on my blog as well if you’re looking for more ideas to make spelling more hands-on and fun.

If you haven’t yet, make sure to visit All About Spelling: Don’t forget to let them know Erica @ Confessions sent you over!

  1. I’d LOVE to win this. I was just speaking to my mom last night about my middle child’s great dislike for spelling. I’m not sure if he’s a visual, audible or tangible learner yet and these would help tremendously!! It would also benefit me…I was diagnosed with latent stage Lyme Disease in October 2005 – after 7 years of misdiagnoses. It’s a long story but basically I’ll have symptoms the rest of my life. I almost died several times. I’ve recently begun to have seizures and my brain just does not work like it used to (I was a critical care pediatric nurse who worked home health with terminal children. I was blessed beyond measure by these children! Now I cannot multitask at all; I can only think about one thing at a time. It’s INCREDIBLY frustrating for how I was as a Mom and who did what I did for a living :o( Anyway, I don’t want to make this a sob story about me. It’s not about me. It’s about my Cole and my intense desire to help him in any way I can :o) I want him to feel confident and proud of his abilities!! He’s such a smart boy…I just need to find the key to unlock his amazing potential! For anyone who’s still reading this after my small pity party, I’d really appreciate prayers from you fellow moms. I’m a firm believer in prayers and though this is definitely not the way I’d planned my life, I know God has it all figured out ;o) I just need to be reminded of that sometimes! Thank you fellow Moms!!! Kirstin

  2. I love your blog and all your HS ideas. I have no older child we pulled for learning reasons from public school, I also have a 3 year old that we are going to start Pre-K HS things with this year and this would be such a great resource to have for her coming up in the years to follow. Our boys our still in PS but I will be pulling them as well in the next couple of years. Thanks for the chance to win this great offer. I don’t tweet I am on it but I don’t have time to keep up with it. I will do the others though and leave a comment.
    Thanks again!
