I personally think they should have named it All About Phonics because it really is a phonics, spelling and reading program in my opinion. I wrote a review of it awhile back you can read my originalย  All About Spelling Review here.

This year I started working with Tinkerbell (Kindergarten) and the AAS Level 1 program. Sheโ€™s doing a great job, weโ€™re taking it a little slow to make sure she gets all of the phonics rules, special sounds, and spelling rules down pat. So far Iโ€™m really impressed with what sheโ€™s able to do already, and the phonics practice has really helped her reading as well!

With All About Spelling, kids learn why words are spelled as they are. They drill the phonics rules until they are mastered and that is what has made the difference for us. I noticed a marked improvement in both the reading and writing skills of my children after starting this program. Now when they go to spell or sound out a word, Iโ€™ll remind them of the rules theyโ€™ve learned and they are able to figure it out on their own.

Whatโ€™s the Cost? The Teachers Manual/Student Kit Comboโ€™s are priced from $29.95-$39.95 depending on which level. They also sell the items separately. Iโ€™ve had a few people ask, and really you DO need the teacherโ€™s manual. The student kit includes flashcards and phonics cards etc, but the lessons are in the Teacherโ€™s Manual, so unlike other curriculum, you cannot teach without it.

What do you need? To teach Level 1, you will need the All About Spelling Level 1 and either the Basic or Deluxe Interactive kit, which contains non-consumable items like the letter tiles that you will use in all levels of the program.

  1. I would love to win “All About Spelling.” My daughter is in K5 and we are using Abeka. I would love to use “All About Spelling” with this. I found spelling list by grade on the internet, so we are doing spelling this year and I have found that it has helped her tremendously with her reading. It all goes hand in hand. But…I am definitely looking into purchasing this for 1st grade, whether I win it or not. I love everything I have seen about this product! I sure do hope I win!! ๐Ÿ™‚
