  1. Erica,
I enjoy your blog and the helpful things you pass on related to homeschooling. I was glad to see this reco for the webinar about parenting as this is an area of struggle for our family. I tuned into the session and while I found the principles shared by Amy sound, I was disappointed that the “How-To” steps were not disclosed.
Most of practical suggestions I was hoping to gain around implementing consequences (what she calls “Tools”) and handling power struggles was only referred to (not actually given). I think a more suited title would have been “GET A SUBSCRIPTION TO MY COURSES to “Get Kids to Listen w/o Nagging, Reminding, & Yelling!” as the title of the workshop described. Even the “free report” emailed afterwards just refers to her other courses.

It felt like an hour long promo/trailer for why I should subscribe to her courses – to get the details that I thought would be disclosed in the webinar. While her courses may be helpful and valuable to me, it would have been better to know BEFORE registering that it was a sales pitch. I understand product promotion and endorsements but felt parents desperate for help in this area could have gotten a fair warning.

    Thanks

    E
    1. Hi E,
I’m sorry for any confusion in what the webinar entailed. I do think Amy did a great job explaining how to practice the basics of her program in a rather short period of time. Remember the 5 R’s Respectful, Related, Reasonable, Revealed, and Repeated. So she did give several examples and tools on how to deal with scenarios that require discipline.

I think in a one hour FREE webinar she obviously can’t cover every possible scenario that you’ll go through. The idea of the webinar is to give you some starting points to get going, and if you’re interested in learning more then you’re welcome to subscribe to her seminars, no pressure either way. You can walk away with some great tools to get going, or you can learn more.

You might also want to email her and let her know you’re concerns, and I’ll forward your reply as well. She may be able to help you a bit, or answer any questions you have regarding her program. She’s really helpful and friendly 🙂

      erica
