Homeschool Bible Curriculum Forum

bible1.jpg

Hi everyone! Welcome to day 2 of my curriculum forum discussions! Today we’re going to talk about how we study the Bible.   Bible is an important part of our homeschool, and for whatever reason it was always one of the hardest for me to find. But since finding the Grapevine Studies we’ve really been  loving our Bible time. These studies work really well for teaching multiple levels and my kids are really enjoying doing them as well, so I plan to continue with these next year. I recommend getting the multiple level student workbook and Teacher’s Manual. You really can’t do these lessons without the TM and then of course you need the student workbooks as well. The TM has the lessons as well as sample drawings for those of us who are artistically challenged! And really these are so flexible they can be done with kiddos as young as Kindergarten I’d say. For preschooler’s they’ve also just released traceable versions as well! We will be using that shortly to … [Read more...]

10 Ways to Respect Your Husband

DSC_7136.jpg

Hi everyone! I’m so excited this month to be taking part in Fulfilling Your Vows…Marriage God’s Way. There are 14 bloggers who came together to host a HUGE Valentine’s giveaway and we're also doing posts everyday until February 14th that will focus on encouraging you to have a fruitful marriage! To keep up with everything make sure to like the Fulfilling Your Vows facebook page and you will receive daily encouragement in your marriage and find out about all of the awesome giveaways going on! So onto my topic. Honestly it pains me to hear friends complain about their spouse, talk about how they aren’t receiving what they need, and how if they’re spouse would just do such and such a thing everything would be grand. All the while never thinking that they could be giving to their spouse without expecting all of these things in return. So today I thought I’d focus on something we can do for our spouse that will bless them in an eternal and unconditional way. Keep in … [Read more...]

Birth of Jesus Bible Study

grapevinepromo_thumb.jpg

I’m so excited for the giveaway today and it’s a perfect fit for the Christmas season! We’ve just started the multi-level Birth of Jesus study. It’s been so awesome to go through this as we approach the holidays that I wanted to share it all with you too! We started using Grapevine Studies last year, and after a year of using the curriculum, we still LOVE it! it’s easy, and my children have fun drawing the little stick figures for everything. What I love most is that even Tinker Bell can look back at her drawings and recall what was going on in that section. I also really like the maps they include. It’s so cool to show my children where things took place, and how far people traveled as we go through the study. What’s this study all about? Saddle up your donkey and take your children and teens on a trip back to the manger! The timeline of the Nativity will come alive through the Bible study of the characters and events surrounding the birth of Jesus. On this … [Read more...]

Does God Celebrate Christmas?

doesgodcelebrate.jpg

I had the privilege of reviewing a new series of books called the Discovering God Series by Phillip W. Rodgers. Phillip has written wonderfully illustrated series of books that are filled with cute poetry that teaches God’s Word to young children!   I received Where Does God Live? and Does God Celebrate Christmas? for review. Both were very cute stories and my kids enjoyed them. The illustrations are super cute, and I love the clever rhyming verses that tell the stories. The series also includes How Tall is God?,  When does God Sleep?,  When was God Born?, all retail for $9.99. Does God Celebrate Christmas? is a story about glistening lights, decorations and even Santa Claws Bear found all over the shopping mall, but someone important was missing. Shopping for gifts during the busiest shopping time of the year leaves Bailey wondering why he doesn't see evidence of God at the mall. Bailey's question gives his father an opportunity to explain the true meaning of … [Read more...]

The Dig – Luke Volume 1

digforkids.jpg

Good morning everyone! I’m excited to share a new resource for getting God’s Word into your child’s heart! It’s called “The Dig For Kids” and it was written by Patrick Schwenk. I’m sure you have all heard of the wonderfully inspirational site “The Better Mom”, it is authored by Ruth, Patrick’s wife, and I had the pleasure of meeting her in real life at a Sally Clarkson conference! Patrick is a pastor, husband, and father of four. He is dedicated to training up his children in the Lord and has written “The Dig For Kids” as a way to get God’s Word into their hearts and train them up in the way they should go. A typical Dig lesson consists of the following four components: 1.  The Map: Each lesson has a map.  The map tells you and your child where you’ll be going in each lesson.  It is a short summary of the study ahead. 2.  The Dig: The Dig is the main passage you will be studying.  Following each passage will be several … [Read more...]

GMG Study ~ Proverbs 31 Woman

Proverbs-31.jpg

Good morning! We had such a great response from the Ephesians Study last session, that I’ve decided to host a group for their next study, The Proverbs 31 Woman! This will be my 3rd online study through Good Morning Girls, and I’m so excited to be going through Courtney’s eBook! I downloaded it awhile ago, so I’ve had a little time to look through it and I know it will be a blessing to many! Good Morning Girls will be providing SOAP Bible study readings along with videos and challenges to go along with Courtney’s eBook for this study. Who can join in? Anyone! Why do a study online? To help hold each other accountable, and encourage one another to be in God’s Word daily! Also, doing a study from the comforts of your own home can really help those of us who have a hard time committing to things outside our home, while still providing us with the love and support from other women. What are the details? This study will run from May 14th – August 17th. I will be … [Read more...]

Ephesians 6:1-9 ~ Week 11

Ephesians.jpg

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all having a blessed week. We have just finished our 11th week in our Ephesians Study! Ephesians 6:1-9 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”[a] 4 Fathers,[b] do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. 5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free. 9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do … [Read more...]
