So what is Expedition Earth: A Journey Through God’s World?

Expedition Earth is a hands on world geography curriculum that covers 31 countries across the world. It is designed primarily for K-5th grade students. Students will learn the continents, oceans, people, cultures, animals, climates, try new foods, crafts and more, all through hands-on activities! I used it with my preschooler, 1st grader, and 2nd grader all together. (My preschooler didn’t do any reports, but she did learn the country names, songs, languages, pray and do all the fun crafts and recipe activities!)

The revised version includes Lap Books for each country, new information, internet links, and books. Here’s a peek at the Teacher’s Manual. It includes everything you need for each lesson including any additional info, internet links, reading assignments, crafts, and recipes for each country as needed. There are 32 weeks of lesson plans, plus a Christmas Around the World Unit. The Teacher’s Manual is outlined for you on a daily basis and even includes a Craft Supply Shopping List for each country just to make your life a little easier!

  1. Hi Erica,
Does this particular curriculum go with the text Expedition Earth: My Passport to the World by Cathy Horton? My older daughters are using this in a co-op and it looks similar. I was wondering bc I would like to use it my younger ones. Thanks so much.

    1. Hi Angie, I think you could probably work it out, I’ve had several people use it in a Co-op setting. I suggested having students do the reading/lapbooking/mapping etc at home, and then save the activities/recipes/fun things for co-op.

  2. Hi! I am looking at this for a church kids camp we are planning in February 2020. We will be doing a Thai themed vacation Bible school in the mornings. I’m looking for something to add in the afternoons. We run 3-4 hours per afternoon for 5 days. Would we have enough materials to use over 5 days or too much maybe? We do plan to add in other activities but I think what you offer could be a great start place for us.

    1. Hi, Expedition Earth is a full year long curriculum (34 weeks worth of daily lesson plans) so you would really have way more than you needed for a 5 day camp. You might actually see if you can find free downloads for individual countries you are focusing on.

  3. I am considering purchasing this program. It looks wonderful! I am curious about the “How to Pray for the Regions” section. Is there a specific demonimation discussed/taught in this section? Thank you!

    1. Students will learn about the various religions practiced by each country as you study it. There is also a bullet point in the lessons that encourages you to pray for the people of each country. But it doesn’t tell you how to pray or encourage any specific religious beliefs.

  4. Hi
It is amazing that you included Arabic and Arab countries but I just wanted to let you know that from your Youtube videos i noticed that in the hello flash cards section the Arabic is wrong. Arabic letters connect and what you have isn’t connected which is gebberish sorry to say. I would recommend just writing it in English (how you pronounce it) “Marhaba” for example. I love your videos i don’t mean to insult you in any way but i thought i would share right information.

  5. Hello, I’m wanting to purchase the Usborne Internet Link World Geography Encyclopedia ( to use with Expedition Earth) but would like to get the most up to date version. I am confused about which one to get . Would you be able to post a link or photo of the one you recommend but most recent version?
    Thank you so much,
    Christine

    1. Hi Christine,
You can definitely purchase a newer version, you’ll just want to make sure the chapter in the book lines up with whatever you’re studying in the curriculum. So the page numbers in the book may be off a bit from the one I recommend, but I do list what to read about in the lesson plan so it should be fairly easy to find that in the updated encyclopedia.
