LEGO Ideas Book Giveaway!

Good morning! (Or afternoon, or evening, or whenever you’re reading this!) It’s a great day anytime we receive anything with the word “LEGO” on it!

We recently received the LEGO Ideas Book and the LEGO Play Book from DK Publishing.

The combination of the LEGO Ideas Book and LEGO Play Book is a great way to encourage kiddos to think logically, build super cool stuff, and play in a more creative way.

The LEGO Play Book includes over 200 different simple, medium, or complex LEGO build ideas. It also comes with a pack of LEGO pieces included for the projects.

The LEGO Ideas Book includes over 500 build ideas! It is broken up into 6 themed chapters – transportation, buildings, space, kingdoms, adventure, and useful makes.

The best part about the LEGO Ideas Book is that you don’t have to purchase any extra LEGO pieces to use it. You can take all of the zillion pieces your kiddos already have and use them to create new builds!

Here are a few of the LEGO build ideas included in the LEGO Idea Book:

Another cool book we received was the LEGO Minifigure Year by Year history book. I didn’t even realize it, but each year LEGO released some cool new mini-figures!

This book shows a visual history of the evolution of LEGO and includes 3 mini-figures as well!

I tried to go back and see which mini-figures they put out the year I was born… but apparently they didn’t put out any that year. Yes, I’m feeling old right about now.

So it looks like 1978 was the closest they had to my birthday. It was mostly community service workers and a few space guys.

1999 had a lot of cool astronauts, and still more community workers.

And the most recent year, 2013, brought about some interesting battle guys.

Just fill out the rafflecopter below to win a copy of the LEGO Idea Book and LEGO Play Book for your kiddos!

  1. I love the Ninja Turtle characters. My kids are into those right now.

  2. Sarah Ann Wong says:

I like the astronauts from 1999. I think it’s so neat that you can build them with Legos!

  3. I am not sure which mini fig is my favorite…how ’bout that hippie??? No, not my fav., but funny. My boys love legos! My second son has made ten or more various trucks from scratch. A few he will build using similar fronts as on kits, but the rest he picks through ALL his legos and builds. Once he and two of my other sons made a whole lego city robber scene. It was so funny and creative, I wish I would have taken pictures. I love the lego videos, too. There was one that came with a Lego City set a few years ago. It had been a most-requested video for my guys (and we don’t watch TV at all and movies every now and again).

  4. I love the Queen Amidala minifig with the big red dress!

  5. My 14 year old son still LOVES Legos. Batman is our favorite.

  6. They’re all so cute! I think the little Santa one is cute. I also like the ones that aren’t traditional people shaped like the Medusa snake lady.

  7. Star Wars!

  8. Beth Tanner says:

I like the early years the best. The figures produced then generate such great creativity.

  9. I like the animal related ones -like the bunny

  10. My favorite is Meltrox. He’s a rock monster. He looks cool:) he was made in 2009.

  11. My daughter is 6 and loves legos. The only figures we have right now are the ones that come in the house you build. I saw a gingerbread man mini figure that was awesome!

  12. I love the 1999 space guys! My kids would have a blast with them!

  13. I love the bumblebee!

  14. The Ninja Turtles are my favorite! I grew up with 2 brothers and we watched a lot of TMNT!

  15. The two baseball players that they had. I’m trying to get enough for my son to have a team of them!

  16. The castle guys from 1978 look neat. My boys like the new castle and knight sets right now. I bet they’d think it was cool to have a knight from the year their mom was born.

  17. I love the cowboy underneath the 1978. You don’t find many of those with the hats anymore! My kids love Legos but I think I am just as big of a fan as they are! I enjoy the time we have putting everything together or making up our own creative pieces!

  18. LEGO came out with some Olympic themed minifigures for the winter olympics in London. They were SO awesome, but you could only buy them in England. I also really like the community helper set.

  19. I love Yoda, circa 2002. My son tells me that he was the first short-legged minifigure. I have three Legomaniacs here who would love to win!

  20. Batman. All of them!

  21. Kristen B says:

The custom ones my kids made of themselves!

  22. I am particularly fond of the garden gnome minifigure. But anything Lego is a big hit around here!

  23. Def ninja turtles!

  24. We love 2013 Donatello!

  25. I love the 2013 Ninja Turtles. Very cute

  39. Victoria Warren says:

I asked my son which mini figure he thought I would like and he showed me the Police Officer (2007) with the mega phone. I guess I should examine my parenting style! :) LOL

    2013 Ninja Turtle

  41. well my oldest loves the knights and my second son is very into ninjas.

  47. My favorite mini figure is the little miner guy from I’m assuming the late 80s-early 90s. My sons just inherited my husband’s massive LEGO collection, and they call that mini figure “grandpa” because my father-in-law works in a gold mine.

  48. Rebecca T says:

    The Statue of Liberty rocks!

  49. Our son is 8 and adores Legos and Star Wars! So…I really like all the Star Wars mini figures! So fun!
