What’s in the Box Wednesday: Preschool

LOTWBinder.jpg

Hi everyone! I made a video of the Teeny Tot’s workboxes for you today. She’s just turned 4 years old and is about half way through my Letter of the Week curriculum. This week she’s working on the Letter N for nest. So if you’re interested to see what is in the Teeny Tot’s boxes for the day, click here to watch our Preschool Workboxes video!     So that’s what the Teeny Tot is doing for today. As she works, she simply pulls out an activity and completes it. When she’s all done she puts it to the side making a pile of “completed” activities. This makes it really easy for me to put the used activities away, as well as leaves her drawers empty for me to quickly refill for the next day. While she typically gets through all of her activities per day, sometimes she leaves a game or two untouched which is fine. I just leave them in there for the next day and refill the other boxes with new activities. I hope you enjoyed the video of the Teeny … [Read more...]

What’s in the Box Wednesday: Third Grade

IMG_7488web.jpg

Hi lovely readers! Today I’m back with another What’s in the Box Wednesday post. Today I’m sharing Turbo’s third grade workbox contents for you all. In their first box, each of my kiddos has an Expanding Acrylic Drawer Organizer with all of the supplies they’ll need. This keeps them from getting up a thousand times during class to get something! Turbo also has his Daily Learning Notebook which is how he starts each morning. They are all used to this now and do it independently.   In his next box we have our favorite spelling, All About Spelling, and he also has a journal stick in the back of the drawer. I have him write in there on Friday’s, right now it’s nothing formal, he’s aloud to write whatever he wants, and if he needs a prompt I’ll help give him a topic.   His next box has his Math U See blocks, workbook, worksheets, and DVD. I also have some 5 minute math drill worksheets in there. He does one per day to help keep his math facts fresh. … [Read more...]

What’s in the Box Wednesday: First Grade

IMG_7483web.jpg

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I’m back with a What’s in the Box Wednesday post with Tinker Bell’s first grade boxes this year. In their first box, each of my kiddos has an Expanding Acrylic Drawer Organizer with all of the supplies they’ll need. This keeps them from getting up a thousand times during class to get something! She also has her Daily Learning Notebook which is how she starts each morning. She’s very used to this now and does it independently.   In the next box she has her Abeka reading and All About Spelling Level 2. I am currently using a mix of Abeka readers and the All About Spelling program together.   The next box houses only the Math U See stuff. The blocks, videos, etc take up a lot of room.   The next box has her Abeka Letters & Sounds 1 and Language 1 worksheets. I like these workbooks because they go well with AAS, and serve as a way to re-enforce the things that she is learning.   Her bottom drawer has our … [Read more...]

What’s in the Box Wednesday ~ Preschool

IMG_7477web.jpg

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a “What’s in the Box Wednesday” post, so I thought I’d do another round for you all! Today I’m sharing the Teeny Tot’s preschool workboxes! This week she’s working on the Letter J and so she has a variety of activities in her boxes. Her top drawer always remains the same. She has her pencil organizer that houses most of what she needs for each day along with some extras that seem to find their way in. Actually this is the place we look first if somebody is missing something from their drawers! She also has her Preschool Daily Learning Notebook, which she absolutely LOVES! I think it makes her feel like she’s doing ‘big kid’ work. Each day she fills out the notebook as directed, and each week she colors one letter (whichever one we’re on that week), one shape, and one number. In her next box she has the Jesus Letter Matching game and a dry-erase handwriting practice along with markers, and an … [Read more...]

What’s in the Box ~ Preschool

IMG_6569.jpg

Hi everyone, welcome to “What’s in the Box Wednesday?” Preschool version! And yes, I do use workboxes for all of my kiddos, even the Teeny Tot! Actually that’s about all that’s saved my sanity this year! Preschool can be really easy and fun as long as you take it easy and remember to be flexible! The Teeny Tot is working on the Letter E for Elephant this week, so here are some of her workboxes.   1. Elephant Lacing card: As you can see I put everything she needs in each box. This one was just a shoe lace and the elephant card. I will usually tie one end on the elephant just so she has a starting spot.   2. Elephant Letter Match Game: Since the Teeny Tot is only 3 1/2 years old, I don’t want to overwhelm her with the whole alphabet to choose from so I pick out just the letters she needs. As she get’s better at this, I’ll pick out a few extras and toss them in. For now she likes to use up all her letters though and I think it would just confuse her to … [Read more...]

What’s in the Box Wednesday: First Grade

Welcome to What’s in the Box Wednesday! I’ve been trying to get back to adding in fun things to our workboxes lately! With the end of our year in sight, I’ve been slacking a little, but the kids notice and have requested more fun things. These were our first grade boxes for today: Abeka Reading Abeka Letters and Sounds Tape Measure It: This is a favorite! I give my son a tape measure, and a chart of objects for him to find and measure. He records the length of each object. On page 2 of the printout, he charts the objects based on length then lets me know which one was longest and shortest. Math U See Alpha Abeka Language iPhone Math Bingo: Another Favorite, anytime I can add in a fun educational iPhone app, they love it! AbekaLetters and Sounds Test A Reason for Handwriting T All About Spelling Level 2: I LOVE THIS PROGRAM! Have workboxes to share? Leave your blog in the comments, I’d love to see them! … [Read more...]

What’s In The Box Wednesday: First Grade

Welcome to What’s In The Box Wednesday! Today I’m sharing my First Grade workboxes with you. 1. Math U See: Alpha. You can also go to the Math U See E-sources, they have a ton of online activities, worksheet generator, loan calculator, investment calculator, and online math drills. 2. All About Spelling: I can’t say enough about this, my kids are doing really well with it. While I think some of the words are a little too easy, the phonics rules they’re learning are priceless! This makes for spelling of more difficult words much easier. 3. Abeka Phonics practice: I’m really just adding this in because we’re still using the Abeka worksheets and I want to make sure that we don’t miss something for those. Next year I won’t do this. 4. Handwriting: This is Abeka, but we’ve since switched to A Reason For Handwriting. My son likes it better and so do I. 5. Word Scrambles: These are to be used with magnetic letter tiles from Lakeshore Learning. 6. Abeka Language: 6. … [Read more...]
