Get ready for an exciting voyage across the world! Come along as we walk on the Great Wall of China, wander through the Amazon Rainforest, and climb the Egyptian Pyramids! Within this curriculum you’ll discover the sights and sounds of 31 countries across the globe. You’ll get hands-on with fun activities, crafts, recipes and more! So grab your passports, and get ready to go! It’s time for Expedition Earth!

We’ll be using this for our Geography and Science this year, so I hope you’ll join in with us! And since I’ve had so many requests, I decided to do a video to show you some of the fun things included in this curriculum!

So what is Expedition Earth: A Journey Through God’s World?

Expedition Earth is a hands on world geography curriculum that covers 31 countries across the world. It is designed primarily for K-5th grade students. Students will learn the continents, oceans, people, cultures, animals, climates, try new foods, crafts and more, all through hands-on activities! I used it with my preschooler, 1st grader, and 2nd grader all together. (My preschooler didn’t do any reports, but she did learn the country names, songs, languages, pray and do all the fun crafts and recipe activities!)

The revised version includes Lap Books for each country, new information, internet links, and books. Here’s a peek at the Teacher’s Manual. It includes everything you need for each lesson including any additional info, internet links, reading assignments, crafts, and recipes for each country as needed. There are 32 weeks of lesson plans, plus a Christmas Around the World Unit. The Teacher’s Manual is outlined for you on a daily basis and even includes a Craft Supply Shopping List for each country just to make your life a little easier!

Additional Reading: I’ve included an additional reading resource section in the Appendix of the teacher’s manual, and I also suggest visiting your local library or doing an internet search for countries that interest your child. They can use these books during their free reading time for a more in depth study!

As if that weren’t enough, I also included an animal unit study called Expedition Earth: Discovering God’s Animals. It’s a wonderful supplement for Expedition Earth, and includes animals found in each country, a mini-book, and animal cards. It also includes animal classification labels for an animal wall. 1. Thanks so much for making this video! I was just looking over the curriculum files last night, but it was super helpful to see how you assemble it and put everything together.
I am planning on using this with my 1st grader this year. My oldest son will be 4 this fall do you think I could print him a student manual out and have him tag along or do you think he is too young and I just be wasting my ink? Thanks again!

    1. We did this back when Tinker Bell was in preschool and she LOVED IT! I am doing it again so the Teeny Tot can have a chance to do it, and its been a few years, so I think my older kiddos will get more out of it as well this time around. It’s great for little ones because there are so many fun activities. But there are some writing things in there. So you’ll want to skip those 🙂

  2. Have you decided an order that you will go in so we can follow along? I have gotten your curriculum and the Children Like Me book already and will be getting everything together over the summer. Thank you.

  3. I love all of your curriculum and suggestions! I was wondering which geography curriculum would your suggest to teach first…Road Trip USA or Expedition Earth? Thanks!

    1. I normally suggest starting with Expedition Earth, it is a little better for younger kiddos with more fun crafts, recipes, songs, and the like.

The Road Trip contains a bit more memorization and handwriting work due to the state symbols, capitals, and major landmarks. So it’s a little better to do that the following year when your student is a bit older.

  4. What an amazing curriculum! I can not wait to start homeschooling with my kids. My daughter Elora is starting Kindergarten and I know she will love this 🙂 Thank you for your video review!

  5. I love this! I am going to begin homeschooling my 7-year old in the Fall and have decided to use Sonlight Core B (Intro to World Cultures) to get us started. I’m wondering if anyone has used your program in conjunction with that?

    Carrie
    1. Hi Carrie,

We are Sonlight users also! 🙂 We are using Core C this year and will be using Exploration Earth with it as the Geography songs/CD are part of Core B+C or Core C. Core B focuses a lot on Ancient History so we didn’t go into a lot of the countries – focusing mostly on the Middle East with a little foray into India.

      Hope this helps!

  6. Hi, I have been looking for a geography program. This looks great! I am wondering if you can tell me about how much time I should allot each day to teach it and if it is reasonable to do this in combination with history and science. My kids will be in first, fifth and seventh. Thanks so much for your help!

    1. Hi Jen,
We schedule about 30 minutes per day for it, but if there is a recipe or craft that I know will take longer I’ll do Expedition Earth last for the day, then they can take as long as they want on their craft projects.
